Lunch Lecture: Beethoven – Spooky, Sublime, Significant Presented by CBMF Co-Artistic Director, Dr. Erik Christian Peterson

The Romantic Period was the era of grandeur, sublimity, spookiness, and horror. Poe, Shelly, Hawthorne, Byron, and Goethe expressed those sentiments in prose and poetry, and Beethoven exalted them in music. Learn about the Classical and Romantic periods and how Beethoven’s music evolves into a Romantic manifesto that expresses the sublime.
