Andrew Krimm, Dr. Stephanie Mientka, and David Alderdice have been performing folk music in bands for over 15 years together. In 2007 Andrew and Stephanie along with David became members of the Grammy nominated crossover folk music band, FEAST. As part of the band, they performed all across the US and Europe to critical acclaim. The band performs bluegrass, as well as American and Irish fiddle music. The Bluegrass and Beyond Camp at CBMF is a fun, 5-day music camp* in Crested Butte, Colorado. Bluegrass and Beyond is a music camp for instrumentalists (violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, vocals, and mandolin) aged 8-99 years old** and for all levels where students have the unique opportunity to work and study with some of the best bluegrass and folk musicians in the world during the day and hear them perform in the evenings. Students will play bluegrass and fiddle tunes, learn and practice improvisation skills, write songs, explore other electives such as vocalizing while playing an instrument, and advance individual skills through instrument break-out sessions. An exciting culminating student performance will take place at the end of the week during the Crested Butte Arts Festival.
Besides playing music, students will have the opportunity to hike with faculty, join fellow students in an evening country dance, and more! Come to Crested Butte Colorado for an amazing musical experience and enjoy living in one of the most beautiful places in all of Colorado.
