For 26 years, impact on the community through our events, performances, and partnerships has been paramount to the Crested Butte Music Festival. Fostering meaningful community partnerships has allowed us to assess and address our Valley’s various needs and build programming that is accessible and engaging.

We have worked to open doors through life-changing and inspiring experiences to create opportunities for the novice to the expert. We have worked hard to open doors through life-changing and inspiring experiences to create opportunities for the novice to the expert. We offer camp scholarships that help children learn to play a tune for the first time, to masterclasses that provide instruction, insight, and inspiration. In addition, our free lecture series offers an interactive educational experience to deep dive into various aspects of music and our free concert series provides an opportunity to celebrate and connect as a community.

The overarching goal is to create experiences that reduce barriers, increase access, and bring a sense of community, connection, and inclusiveness throughout the Valley.

New Scholarship Program

Our new scholarship program was established to provide young music students an opportunity to attend a summer music camp which they would otherwise not be able to afford. The Crested Butte Music Festival scholarship program is open to new and returning families and youth under 18 years old. Every child is welcome, no matter their family income. Click here for more info.

Kids Go Free

We believe families should be able to experience world-class music together. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, our Kids go Free program allows us to provide free admission for kids aged 7-17 with the purchase of an adult ticket to all our main stage events. Click here for more info.

School Outreach Program

Each September, the Crested Butte Music Festival brings world class musical performances and inspiring words to the Gunnison’s Valley’s music classrooms. These supplementary performances in our local schools provide instruction, insight, and inspiration which expands upon traditional academic programming.

Sally Miner Lecture Series

Sally Miner shared her love of music by presenting educational programs about music that helped listeners to better understand the complexities and beauty of the art form. The Crested Butte Music Festival is preserving Sally Miner’s legacy of music education by offering a free lecture series each summer that extensively explores a variety of musical topics presented by Dr. Erik Peterson, Co-Artistic Director of the CBMF. GVH Senior Care Center Music Series

In 2021, the Crested Butte Music Festival launched a new free concert series at the Gunnison Valley Health Assisted Living Center. This is a special opportunity for many of these residents to experience the uplift of music who would otherwise not be able to travel to a concert hall.
